"For the One", Dance

2007

November 23rd - 25th
Rustlers Valley - South Africa

This Dance will go ahead as scheduled!

Mother Moon

For the past four years we have held this sacred dance at Rustlers Valley. This year we begin a new cycle and (of course) because the infrastructure at Rustlers has been completely destroyed by fire, everyone will have to bring a tent and camp. We still have all the essentials for a dance: a spectacular natural bowl in the mountains; clean spring water; plenty of firewood; a crew sweat lodge; a dance sweat lodge; an arbor; a campsite with showers and toilets; the Starseed kitchen and gathering area; and a crew of more than 30 people from all over the world committed to attending. Mother Moon is the Dance Chief for this dance, alongside John Pehrson and Jeanne White Eagle, attending as an Elder.

It is time to remember who we are. That we and all life are parts of a single consciousness; and as each of us interact with our world on a daily basis, we either create further separation, or we remember who we are and find the grace and strength to love what is in front of us in each passing moment.

Seven years ago, Jeanne White Eagle was given a vision of a "singing dance," a dance whose purpose was to awaken the memory of who we are and where we come from ...a dance to bring what has been separated, back together again.

The Peoples Drum

When we dance, we are the truth of breath, matter and movement. By dancing and fasting, we heighten our awareness and allow ourselves to remake our personal world, even as we call the vibration of peace to the land upon which we dance.

On a personal level, dancers may experience breakthrough and transformation. On a planetary level, the dancers will work with the energy and spirits of the directions of the land.

Drummers - Niyan & Nonty

Josco & John - Dogging

Alpha Dog Eidin

Dance time is always a high energy time and whatever energies are present are intensified by the Dance itself. This is the reason that such care is given to advance preparation and planning, so that the energetic environment will be as clear and most conducive to the support of the Dance and the Dancers.

In this dance, as the drum carries the dancer to the center, the dancer sings spontaneously the sounds that will take her or him to the original vibration from which all creation comes. In this space, we experience ourselves as the hollow bone through which Spirit blows the breath of life ........... it is here that we remember that there is no separation.

The time of separation is over!

The Dance begins on Friday morning, so dancers must be here by 10am on Friday and may leave after the feast on Sunday at 4-5pm. The crew is expected to be here on Tuesday to assist with preparations.

I would like to add here that to work on the crew at these dances is an experience of learning on many levels. The commraderie built up within the crew is neccesary to support the Dancers and we preffer that all crew (including Drummers) be here by Tuesday. So that the crew can bond by working, drumming and holding Sweat Lodge Purifications together. It's hard work but a lot of fun. It is also a good place to learn about the dance if one is considering dancing in future dances.

If you would like to dance this dance with us either as a Dancer, Drummer, or come to participate with the support crew then please contact Niyan for details and costs.
